They have learned, though, that there may be consequences for extremely inappropriate actions. Many have mastered the subtle, biting verbal attacks that will not result in their removal from the poker room, but still give them the satisfaction they need. You are well to put as much distance as possible between yourself and these people.
They are rarely good for a game unless they play horribly, and the worst usually do. They make other players uncomfortable and you will notice a constant tension in the air. You never know how unglued one of these people will become either.
I saw a man punch another player after an ill-received check-raise! On this note, it is important to let the management of a card room know about a player who may be dangerous to others.
Some people actually gain great pleasure playing with an irritable person. If that is something that provides you with enjoyment, you should have no shortage of good games, especially in Las Vegas where some of the most unpleasant people seem to migrate.
You can steer these maladjusted people further off the course of decent play by pushing their buttons. Do so at your own risk and do not be surprised if they come around the table at you!
