The Myers Brikes Type Indicator

I asked myself a couple of questions. Is there a correlation between personality type and poker playing styles? How much does a person's make-up affect his decisions?

Actually, what led me to this field of study was a simple fact that I noticed: Some players with less than excellent strategic knowledge could still do fairly well in (weaker) poker games.

While others of much more sound technical knowledge struggled, and often made errone o uc decisions based upon what their opponent obviously held. vovious inat is, to someone who had noticed clues that the opponent had broadcast in their mannerisms.

For example, in one situation, a player with a good intuitive grasp of his opponent might raise a hand. Perhaps he did not play correctly, but he smelled weakness.

A player with sound tactical skills who might have played the hand better - prior to the point of decision - might continue to call and not gain extra bets. He might have, apparently, no idea what hand his opponent held because he missed the crucial clue.

I decided that it came down to more than just the ability to read opponents' hands (a skill that a person can learn in a few different ways). It seemed to hinge on a broader awareness and feel for opponents.

A person does not escape tricky situations repeatedly without astute knowledge concerning the strength of his opponents' hands that goes beyond using logic and card distribution.
